On race day, process is key. Do not focus on the outcome because it depends on too many factors that are out of your control. Instead, focus on what you can control. Spend time in training finding those points that work for you such as pressure points on the bike, your cadence, body posture, and breathing. Focusing on the process keeps you in the moment and distracts you from the race outcome.
Process is key
o Do not focus on the outcome
o Know what you can and can’t control
• What is out of your control should not concern you
When you are having a tough day..
o DON’T – focus on what’s going on
o DO – have something else to focus on
• Gwen uses pressure points
– Butt is on the seat
– Hands on the handlebars
– Feet on the pedals
• Your “happy place”
• Confidence from training days
